How to clean floors like a pro, By Maria, (The cleaning guru at wecleananyhome.com)
If like many of our clients at www.wecleananyhome.com you have hardwood, laminate, carpet, concrete, or tile floors, I am sure you will be keen to know the best way of maintaining them. Maria, our domestic cleaning guru has put together a list for any floor type so have a read and see how to clean and maintain your floors.
Carpets:
The trick here is to Vacuum….vacuum and vacuum again! Especially in used and trodden on areas. Annoyingly dirt acts like sand paper and easily frays the ends of your carpet pile. Regular vacuuming with a good quality hoover works wonders and will lengthen the life of your carpet and keep it looking new and fluffy much longer. At wecleananyhome we use henry hoovers, they are sturdy and dependable and a vacuum for the cleaning pros! (Other good hoovers are of course available).
So, you already do a lot of vacuuming when cleaning, but what about spills? If you have a spillage try and spray the spills and stains immediately with a good quality stain remover and dab off straight away, It’s true! My husband spilled a cup of tea on our hall carpet, and just blotted it up with a cloth….needless to say, the stain was still there the next day. So I sprayed it with a quality stain remover, used a bit of elbow grease and hey presto it was completely stain free, even a day after the stain had dried.
Hardwood:
If you happen to have an older, get on your hands and knees and wax hardwood floors, I wish you well… They require a lot more looking after and upkeep! Nowadays, most wood floors have a hard, plastic-like finish and require much less maintenance when cleaning since it is a no-wax finish. Just be sure to keep it swept/vacuumed and remember not to wash the floors with any soap-based cleaning product. Clean with a dilute ammonia solution or a neutral floor cleaner available from all pound shops and supermarkets.
Laminate:
Now I love laminate flooring, it’s one of the easiest floors to keep clean and requires very little effort. All you need is a solution of warm water, vinegar, and a mild detergent and minimal cleaning effort and away we go…. Easy peasy!
Tile:
The secret of keeping tiles looking great is to clean and wipe spills, grease splashes and the like quickly. Of course, keeping with my theme, vacuum frequently. It will keep the grout looking clean and new as well. If it’s already ground in use a tile cleaner, they clean well and are great for showers and tubs, too!
Cement:
Cement floors are pretty easy to clean and maintain. Start by going over it with a mop then use a solution of warm water and a mild detergent or cement product. Remember not to get these floors overly wet.
As is the case with all cleaning chores, the key is to clean as often as you can rather than letting the dirt build up, which makes the cleaning more time consuming. Who wants to spend more time cleaning???
Alternatively, you can book a professional cleaner to do your cleaning for you. Our team at www.wecleananyhome.com are here to help make your life a little easier. (other cleaning companies are of course available)
