Over the years I have been asked many times why I started a cleaning business! Had I previously worked in Cleaning? did any of my family work in cleaning?
The truth is when I started we clean I had no experience in cleaning at all and did not know any cleaners.
I had been made redundant from a managerial post I had held for many years and was at a career crossroads.
I did not really know what I wanted to do only that I wanted to venture out on my own and start a business.
Purely by coincidence my elderly Father was looking for a cleaner in Southend and had not had much luck so I started looking for a cleaner for him. I went on google and searched terms like domestic cleaner Southend, house cleaners Southend, cleaning companies in Southend, cleaners for the elderly and so on. I am sure you get the picture!
At the time there were not that many cleaning companies to choose from. I rang a few local cleaning companies that I was able to find and was amazed by the lack of interest and customer service I received.
I arranged for a cleaner in Southend to start, but they did not turn up. Then I found a cleaning company in Southend, I arranged for them to start but we had 3 different cleaners in the first 5 weeks.
I would often speak to the cleaners and it soon became apparent they were not looked after or respected by their employers, basically the cleaning companies I had found didn’t really care about their cleaners, as long as the clean was done (sometimes) they seemed happy!
After a career in customer service management I decided I could do better, possibly naively I set up wecleananyhome.com.
I wanted to create a company that offered great customer service, an easy to book and pay system that meant the client didn’t have to worry to much.
We wanted to recruit and maintain the very best cleaners in Southend and so we talked to potential cleaners and came up with our unique payment system that meant our cleaners always earned a good wage, above our competitors and certainly above the living wage. We wanted happy clients, happy cleaners and a happy team and I Would like to think some 11 plus years later that is what we have created!
We first opened our cleaning company in Southend on Sea in January 2010 and since then have cleaned thousands of local houses and offices. We are constantly looking to improve our service, improve our clients experience and improve our teams conditions. We rarely lose our cleaners and am proud that a cleaner has never left us to go and work for another cleaning company!
